I think I was successful with my clay project. The final result did not look like what I intended it to look like but it does look like a panda and I am proud of what I accomplished. I was good at maintaining a good state of clay, the correct wetness helped me sculpt and add feature to the panda especially to the face. I was good at making pinch pots and it helped me sculpt the body, head, and legs and arms. A difficulty I had was making the bamboo stick I originally intended to do. It didn't work out so I left that idea. Another difficult thing was making the fingers and toes because they wouldn't stick. I solved that by scratching and attaching. Overall, I like my piece.

1. The thing that inspired me to do this painting is the Taj Mahal and Leonid Afremov's Paris of my Dreams. This artwork is about the Taj Mahal painted in a similar fashion to Leonid Afremoc's Paris of my Dreams. I loved the background of the Paris of my Dreams so I decided to do the same thing but with the Taj Mahal instead of the Eiffel Tower.
2. I made this piece unique by incorporating the Taj Mahal into the piece. I used a source of inspiration (Leonid Afremov) then incorporated my idea of the Taj Mahal into the piece. This is how I made it original. 3. I learned lots of new techniques like brush strokes and paint mixing. I never painted before so this was the first time I ever used acrylic in a project. At first it was hard to do since I did not know you had to use a small brush to paint detailed parts. Then after I switched over to a small brush, it was easier but still hard since I have had no experience in painting. I have not gained a skill with familiar materials since paint is not very familiar to me. 4. I tried using pallet knife at first for the background but I didn't get the hang of it so I switched over to using a paint brush. I wasn't sure about painting the Taj Mahal or anything realistic but I tried my best and I think I am satisfied with the product. Again, I am not that familiar with paint so most of the techniques I used were unfamiliar. 5. A challenge I had was that I wasn't getting enough detail in the Taj Mahal building since I did not know we had to use a small brush. I switched over and it helped a little but I still didn't get as much detail in as I would have liked. My work overall stayed on track and I added a new touch every class. .6. I like my finished piece. I think it isn't bad for a first time painting project. I am proud of myself for going out of my comfort zone since I normally use pencils and draw. I think my piece is successful since it represents me and my ideas. I think it shows a mix of inspiration and creativity along with some techniques. Overall, I like the finished product but I think it could be a bit more polished. A)Leonid Afremov
